    1. Getting Started with Your Residency Application

To begin the process of obtaining legal residency in Paraguay, you’ll need two essential documents from your home country:

    • An FBI criminal background check or criminal record from your home country

    • Your original birth certificate.
    • Marriage or divorce certificate (if applicable)

Both documents have to be apostilled.

  • Clipboard Clipboard

    2. Document Preparation

Once you’ve secured these documents, simply scan and email us digital copies. We’ll take care of the certified translations and prepare all necessary paperwork on your behalf.

Please bring the physical originals with you when you travel to Paraguay. They will be required during your in-country appointments with immigration authorities.

From there, our team will guide you through every step — from logistics and legal filings to document submission — ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience.

    3. Arrival in Paraguay

We recommend planning a minimum 3-day stay in Asunción. During this time, our team will collect and prepare all required local documents for your residency application.

Your only responsibility will be to accompany us to the immigration office (Migraciones), where we will personally submit your application for legal residency. We’ll handle the logistics — you just need to show up with your passport and the required original documents.

    4. Application Submission

Once your application is submitted, the immigration office (Migraciones) has up to 90 days by law to process and approve your temporary residency.
In practice, approval usually takes between 45 and 60 days.

When your residency is approved, you will receive what’s commonly known as the “yellow slip”, a document confirming your “Admisión Temporaria” valid for 2 years. However, this is not yet your national ID (Cedula).

Only after your residency is officially granted can we submit your separate application for the Cedula, which is your Paraguayan identity card. We will handle this process on your behalf as well.

The Cedula is typically ready within approximately 45 days from the date of application.

If you plan to stay in Asunción for less than 45 days, it’s likely that two separate visits will be required,  one to submit your residency application and another to apply for the Cedula after your residency is approved.

Please be cautious: some agencies promise to complete both the residency and Cedula process in a single visit or even a single day. These practices are often not legal or compliant, and residencies obtained through such shortcuts may be revoked in the future.

We prioritize doing things the right way, legally, transparently, and with your long-term security in mind.
