Once your application is submitted, the immigration office (Migraciones) has up to 90 days by law to process and approve your temporary residency.
In practice, approval usually takes between 45 and 60 days.
When your residency is approved, you will receive what’s commonly known as the “yellow slip”, a document confirming your “Admisión Temporaria” valid for 2 years. However, this is not yet your national ID (Cedula).
Only after your residency is officially granted can we submit your separate application for the Cedula, which is your Paraguayan identity card. We will handle this process on your behalf as well.
The Cedula is typically ready within approximately 45 days from the date of application.
If you plan to stay in Asunción for less than 45 days, it’s likely that two separate visits will be required, one to submit your residency application and another to apply for the Cedula after your residency is approved.
Please be cautious: some agencies promise to complete both the residency and Cedula process in a single visit or even a single day. These practices are often not legal or compliant, and residencies obtained through such shortcuts may be revoked in the future.
We prioritize doing things the right way, legally, transparently, and with your long-term security in mind.
